About
BEAR Records is a not-for-profit "hobby" record label and distro running out of bedrooms and closets since it's creation in late 2006. BEAR doesn't need to turn a profit because there are no employees and never will be. My prices are fair and at cost, or as close as possible, some cost more to make than others.
Always DIY
In a world where labels and bands who claim to be DIY are selling out, BEAR Records has been and will always remain DIY. No bands will ever be 'signed' to this label, and you won't find my releases in corporate record stores which raise our prices just to make a buck for themselves. If you do, it's not my doing. It's really disapointing to see more and more bands who used to have DIY ethic sell themselves out just to make a buck, or become more concerned with making money than with having fun or standing for something. If I help any band get to that point, I'll regret it... If BEAR Records ever stops being fun and becomes more of a job... it will cease to exist. These attitudes are not what DIY is about, they never have been, and they never will be.
Ordering
Orders get sent as often as possible. Usually this is once a week and usually on Saturday, but sometimes I fall behind. This is not a full-time job, but it is important to me. All orders will be sent. If you have questions send an e-mail (see below)
Trades
The distro is stocked almost 100% through trades and donations. I will trade my releases with you regardless of if you are a label or band or individual. I almost never turn down a trade. In fact I don't think I have ever turned one down. I can only trade my releases and all trades must be fair. Yes, I might even trade you my new records for your old records depending on what they are. Please send an email!
If you are a band who simply wants to promote your stuff this is possible as well. You can e-mail first or send your stuff directly to the address at the end of this page. If you send me stickers, flyers, cdrs, etc, I will happily throw them in to orders. This goes for other distros and labels as well. As long as your band is not disrespectful/racist/etc. and you have good ethics, that is.
Consignment
I will take your records on consignment in my store. You need to let me know the cost of each record/cd/etc. and how you want to get paid when they sell. If there are paypal fees you have to pay them, I can't do that. If you want your records back you have to pay the shipping, I can't do that. But I would love to have your releases. I would also love to trade with you. Unfortunately I can't currently afford to buy other labels releases at wholesale so I am limited to consignemnt and trades at least for now.
Wholesale
I can not afford to buy your releases at wholesale at this time, so please consider trading or consignment.
I am doing wholesale again for my releases!!! If you want to buy my releases at wholesale please contact me for a list of wholesale prices. Most wholesale prices are only slightly cheaper depending on the release, so you might be better off trading. You still have to pay the shipping for wholesale. To be fair you must buy.. let's say at least 3 copies to get the wholesale price. E-mail me if you have questions (see below).
